Cal Poly’s Clayton Hutchins was the individual winner in leading the Mustangs to the men’s team title at the West Coast Conference Preview on Saturday in Sunnyvale.
Hutchins completed the 8K course in 24 minutes, 19.3 seconds. Santa Clara’s Kurt Ruegg was second in 24:23.4.
Cal Poly’s Nick Woolf (24:33.3), Tyler Huntley (24:37.9) and Dimitri Voytilla (24:46.5) finished third, sixth and eighth, respectively.
That was more than enough to carry the Mustangs to the team title with 29 points to 46 for runner-up Santa Clara and 82 for third-place Loyola Marymount.

On the women’s side, Loyola Marymount topped San Francisco 39-51 for the team title with Cal Poly third with 70.
Danielle Shanahan of Loyola Marymount was the women’s individual winner, covering the 6K course in 20:50.9, topping teammate Grace Graham-Zamudio by nearly 13 seconds.
Cal Poly’s top runner was Meghan Breadmore, who was fourth in 21:18.5. Teammate Melissa Eisele was ninth in 21:28.7.
