The Paso Robles High girls water polo team beat Santa Maria 8-4 on Thursday night in Santa Maria as Lauren Sowerby scored two of the Bearcats’ three goals in the third period to help them pull away.
Marina Smeltzer scored two of her three goals in the first period to help give Paso Robles a 5-4 halftime lead.
Sowerby ended up with three goals while Kelsey Lewis had 10 saves for the Bearcats (11-6).
Nipomo 17, St. Joseph 2

Ganae Abatti had five goals, and Becca Gonzalez had four in the Titans’ home win. Sierra Ranis and Katie Stratton had two goals apiece, and Holly Camacho made six saves for Nipomo (5-4).
Templeton 3, Cabrillo 3, tie
The Eagles had to overcome an own goal and block a penalty kick late in the second half to preserve the tie.
Jose Garcia assisted Austin Alarcon and then scored on a free kick from 20 yards out to give Templeton a 2-0 lead going into the half.
Cabrillo proceeded to score twice in addition to the own goal before Noritaka Gibo’s game-tying goal and Justin Peterson’s penalty kick save.
Peterson had eight saves for the Eagles (4-7-1, 1-4-1 Los Padres League).
Orcutt Academy 7, Morro Bay 2, OT
Isaac Manuputy and Carlos Moreno helped erase an early 2-0 deficit before the Pirates surrendered five goals in overtime (3-11-1, 0-6 LPL)
Cabrillo 1, Templeton 0
Sammy Schmidt made six saves in the second half as the Eagles couldn’t overcome an early Cabrillo goal midway through the first half.
Sydney D’Aquisto was in goal in the first half with three saves for Templeton (4-7, 1-4 LPL).
Nipomo 5, Santa Maria 1
Kimberly Knollenberg scored three goals as the Titans remain undefeated in league play (6-5-1, 6-0 LPL).
Jackie Lopez added an assist and a goal in the first half.
