Beach volleyball great Misty May-Treanor will be in Pismo Beach this weekend, hosting two youth volleyball clinics at the courts at the end of Wadsworth Avenue.
The three-time Olympic beach volleyball gold medalist will instruct clinics from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Sunday for athletes ages 8 to 18 as part of a seven-event countrywide summer camp series.
Having already held clinics in Austin, Texas; Denver; Snowmass, Colo.; and Long Beach, N.Y; May-Treanor will also visit Portland, Ore., and Virginia Beach, Va., by the end of the month.
Each clinic will include instructional sessions with May-Treanor and her staff, a question-and-answer period and a photo-and-autograph session at the end of the day.
Never miss a local story.
Fees are $125 per day, and information can be found online at pismodreamingold.event brite.com.
Before retiring almost exactly one year ago following the London Olympics, May-Treanor and teammate
Kerri Walsh Jennings won women’s beach gold at three straight Olympic Games.
During their dominant partnership, the duo also won 101 straight matches and 18 consecutive tournament titles on the pro circuit.
This after May-Treanor captained the Long Beach State women’s volleyball team to an undefeated 36-0 season in 1998.
This will not be the first time Pismo Beach has hosted a pro legend. Men’s great Karch Kiraly, also a three-time Olympic gold medalist, hosted a free clinic in 2007.
