The Los Angeles Angels selected former San Luis Obispo Blues star C.J. Cron with the 17th overall pick in the first round of the MLB Draft on Monday.
Cron, an infielder from Utah, batted .338 for the Blues in the summer of 2009, collecting 23 RBI.
Arroyo Grande High standout Kyle Raubinger, who has signed with Loyola Marymount, as well as several Cal Poly players, are also expected to be drafted.
Rounds 2 through 30 are scheduled for today, with rounds 31 through 50 to be held Wednesday.

Former Mission Prep standout and Arroyo Grande native Jordan Hasay was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s West Region women’s co-athlete of the year.
Hasay, a sophomore at Oregon, will compete for the Ducks in the 1,500- and 5,000-meter races at the upcoming NCAA Division I outdoor national championships, which will take place in Des Moines, Iowa from Wednesday through Saturday.
Hasay won Pac-10 titles in both events earlier this year. Her 1,500 time of 4:10.28 is the fastest of the season in the country so far and ranks 10th all-time among collegiate runners.

The San Luis Obispo Soccer Club will offer free soccer clinics open to boys 13 years old and younger at Laguna Middle School from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays this month.
