Daniel Howell hit his second home run of the summer, four San Luis Obispo Rattlers pitchers combined to six-hit the Vegas Baseball Club in the first game, and the California Collegiate League teams split a doubleheader in Las Vegas on Sunday.
The Rattlers (5-2, 2-4 CCL) took the first game 5-1 in seven innings after Howell hit a three-run home run and Richie Mirowski, Chad Caraccioli, former Arroyo Grande High and Cuesta College standout Todd Simko and Marc Damon combined to shut down Vegas.
Caraccioli earned the win pitching in relief. Damon got the save.
After taking its first loss of the season, Vegas (2-1, 2-1 CCL) regrouped to win the second game 9-5 in nine innings after the Rattlers were able to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
Bobby Buckner was 2 for 4 in the second game for the Rattlers.
Santa Barbara Foresters 12, San Luis Obispo Blues 6The Foresters completed a three-game sweep of the Blues at SLO Stadium.
The Blues (3-4, 2-3 CCL) fell behind 4-0 by the middle of the fourth and fought back to get two runs in the bottom half of the inning.
But the Foresters (6-3, 4-2 CCL) erupted for five run in the top of the fifth to pull away.
Jared Womack and Kyle Kubitza combined to go 7 for 9 with three runs and four RBI, and former Nipomo High standout Jeff McNeil was 1 for 4 with a run for the Foresters.
Ryan Aguayo was 2 for 5 with a double and two RBI.
