Regarding the Las Pilitas quarry appeal: Common sense needs to be applied on the part of the Board of Supervisors. If the gravel is routed through the residential section of town, which includes the local park and school, it will be a major disruption.
Most of the letters in favor of the appeal focus on the owners of the project, which seems irrelevant. I own a local business and am in favor of a new business, but not the proposed route. Is it not possible to route the trucks through the ranch utilizing the road the Hanson site uses? Then they could use El Camino Real and proceed either north or south.
I am under the impression the supervisors are elected to attend to the needs of the majority of the residents, not just business owners. We all pay taxes and, most importantly, vote. I hope the board will use common sense and deny the appeal instead of leaving a legacy of unwanted residential traffic.
