In one of my previous letters to the editor, I expressed the belief that any politician aspiring to be in Congress or the White House should be required to pass a test in the history of world religions and cultures.
I believe that the mess we find today in the Middle East was created, many many years ago, by a handful of nations, most of them in Europe.
These nations did irreparable damage by setting artificial borders for many Arabic nations, without any knowledge of the history, culture and religious strife of most of these lands. The only goal, then, was control of oil.
Ideological stupidity and lack of pragmatism, found in a considerable number of the nation’s representatives in Washington, has contributed to the creation of the status quo.
Unfortunately, in our nation, we have a group of war profiteers who want to keep the nation in a perpetual state of war.
I believe that ISIS is an Arabic problem. Let them deal with it. They have both the armies and resources to do it.
