I do not understand what the county is thinking when they approve new hotels with swimming pools at this time of extreme drought. Money, ya think? Here in the Willow Creek area of Paso Robles, I understand they approved three wells for a man who doesn’t even live here (he lives in Texas) and fills his pond with the water. That’s three properties up from us. Now, they approved a new well next door for a winery that is buying the property. The owners already have three other vineyards here, and they also do not live here. You know that is going to affect our well, especially when they are going down about 1,000 feet.
If I could sell, I would. But the outlook for selling is not good when you’re not sure whether you will have water. Plus, this is our home, and we have lived here a long time. This area has four vineyards that are all dry farm. I’ll predict this new vineyard is not going to be dry farm, as the owners’ other ones here are not.
