As a longtime resident of Cayucos, I applaud the decision by the Cayucos Sanitary District (CSD) to move forward on a sewage treatment facility without partnering with the city of Morro Bay. The CSD is now in a place to make sure that the needs of the residents of Cayucos are met.
The CSD’s mission statement, as indicated on its website, is to operate a well-maintained wastewater collection and conveyance system while preserving the community’s capital investment and to be a good steward of the community’s assets. After reviewing all the options, the CSD’s decision last week upholds that mission statement. I think anyone who truly sought what was best for the residents of Cayucos would make the same decision.
It’s not about what happened in the past, it’s about looking to the future and making decisions that are best for the residents of Cayucos and Morro Bay.
