As a 30-year resident of Morro Bay, I am glad that we will not be partners with the Cayucos Sanitary District while we build our new Water Reclamation Facility.
There has been one contentious situation after another over the years. Most recently, when the Coastal Commission gave the ultimatum that our sewage plant must be moved away from the ocean by 2021, Cayucos (with the old mindset) hemmed and hawed, cancelled meetings, and then asked for equal voting rights with only a 30 percent/70 percent financial investment. Morro Bay responded that that was not going to happen.
It makes no sense to have a business deal where the partners have equal votes with only a one-third financial stake. That is not fair or reasonable.
