I have some thoughts on the proposed pet shelter.
I’ve been thinking about all the county employees who work on Kansas Avenue in temporary trailers and buildings cobbled together during the Vietnam war, and what they think about you spending $10 million on a new dog pound.
I’m not one of those employees, but I think they would feel like asking about your priorities.
Now considering that we have a fairly new dog pound just a stone’s throw away (Woods Humane Society), why would you want to build another facility?
Never miss a local story.
Should stray dogs be more important than improving buildings for county employees? What about keeping the animal control officers, but pay Woods Humane to take care of these unwanted pets and avoid the duplication of two dog pounds. Maybe put the money into improving facilities of those hard-working county employees? I think they deserve it. People before puppies.
