You recently covered the Arroyo Grande City Council meeting and noted resident comments about the Phillips 66 Santa Maria Refinery rail project. This past week, the City of Grover Beach also considered information on the proposal. Eleven people spoke in favor of the project, including retired railroad employees such as myself, the city’s former fire chief, residents, the Chamber of Commerce and others. Mayor John Shoals ran a good meeting and the council asked many questions. I know you can’t cover every city council meeting, but since you had reported on opponents at one meeting, I thought your readers would like to know there was strong support at another.
