The Tribune recently reported on the high number of wild bandtailed pigeons that have been found dead along the Central Coast in the past few months, (“Alarming number of pigeons found dead,” Feb. 4.)
The article went on to say that the wild birds are evidently victims of a parasite that is being spread by the common pigeon that you see around town (the same pigeon that many people in large cities refer to as rats with wings). Have you ever noticed how these common street pigeons like roosting under solar panels? The solar companies should be required to place skirts around the panels they install so that they do not create habitat for street pigeons and thereby increase their numbers.
