Not only business owners are concerned about a parklet taking 20 percent of the parking on the busiest block of Main Street in Morro Bay. Customers are too.
I’ve been a San Luis Obispo customer of Coalesce Bookstore since 1973. That’s 42 years, which ought to give you an idea of why I need a parking place fairly near the store.
Besides, when I drove past Coalesce today, the parklet blocked the view of either Coalesce or the store on the other side of the coffee shop.
I understand businesses on the block were not consulted about where the parklet should go. The coffee shop seems to be the only beneficiary of the city’s leap forward.
To me, this seems shabby treatment of one of the two or three independent bookstores left in the county, one that has contributed taxes to Morro Bay for 42 years.
