For at least the past 15-plus years, Morro Bay has had parking issues, especially during the summer and holiday weekends. Along comes someone who decided the best way to deal with this issue is to remove parking spaces and add a patio in the former parking spaces.
I feel a few questions need to be answered.
What criteria will be used to determine which businesses benefit from taxpayer funds for this outdoor seating area? No chance of back-door dealing here without published rules. Does this mean the in-lieu parking fees are no longer required, and if so, for whom?
Did the brains behind this scheme consider who carries the liability for a driver who may plow into this “parklet”? Seems to me that the designer of this scheme didn’t think too far ahead.
