I want to address what the answer to the homelessness problem in Grover Beach is not: The answer is not a grassroots movement that includes these small groups of people who have ideas to solve it. That is not the way to solve it.
This is a social issue, and it’s going to take city officials and the local police department to work together to come to a solution. That is why they are elected, to serve the interests of the community, not these grassroots groups who want to have a voice and say.
I’m all for these groups to meet and have ideas to help the city, but don’t make it about the group and the grassroots effort. Crusades and grassroots aren’t going to solve the problem, and they aren’t going to change anything.
If you want change, then work the right way, with your local city officials, not behind closed doors with personal agendas.
