Hurrah for Los Osos Middle School! What a pleasure to see a large number of students venturing out of their classrooms and around our lovely town. They were checking out the Elfin Forest and having a great time. Let’s get the kids out more often and off-road — what a great way to encourage togetherness and exercise. Go ahead, kids: Have fun, climb trees, run, dig holes, look at bugs, watch birds and enjoy the fresh air. It is always educational to get outside with your classmates.
While I did not go on this walk, I did get the chance to see how happy they were as they came and went. At the same time these kids were out walking, others were in the library playing guitar, reading, checking out facts in books, asking for more books and being a great bunch of citizens.
To fellow Los Osans, please smile, wave or say, “Hi,” to our kids so that they know we are not just crabby adults and that we do care about them. Volunteer at the school! I bet you have something to share with some student that would make their day!
