Many in Arroyo Grande received a mailer from a “Cops Voter Guide.”
The fine print indicates that this voters guide has a mailing address in Folsom, Calif., and has zero members.
I questioned whether this was an endorsement from a police association. The answer is “no.” It has no affiliation with any police association. The title is clearly an attempt to fool people into thinking this guide represents the endorsement of the police and/or their associations.
Next, the candidates listed in this mailer are all Democrats, and the propositions are the ones that Democrats support. But two local candidates (both Republicans, though not indicated as such) are listed as candidates for endorsement in a “bait and switch.”
Never miss a local story.
This “voters guide” is an attempt to mislead voters into thinking that Lynn Compton and Chris Mitchum likewise are supported by Democrats. This same election tactic was used in the primary election, in which a voters guide from a group indicating that it was a Democratic organization endorsed all the state Democratic candidates but included Lynn Compton as its endorsement for county supervisor.
It is disappointing to see that Lynn Compton and her team are so willing to engage in dishonest and misleading tactics in order to win this election.
