As a retired schoolteacher, and one who cares very much about the health of our planet for future generations, I was pleased to see the installation of solar panels in the parking lot at Morro Bay High School. However, I was concerned when The Tribune reported that if Measure D passes, one of the plans for the use of additional funds is to park the four school buses every day all the way in the San Luis Obispo bus barn, instead of at Morro Bay High, as they are now.
This will involve two new round-trip journeys every school day with vehicles with very poor fuel economy.
This does not communicate to our students that we care about the level of emissions that we are releasing into our environment. I would truly respect a reconsideration of this proposal by the administration of the San Luis Coastal district.
