Imagine more than 70 12- and 13-year-old girls and boys, outside on an open field, and you are responsible for all of them. In 35 minutes, you must take attendance, divide them into two teams, explain the rules of a game and monitor them as they play by the rules. You must explain how to properly use and store equipment, to use teamwork and strategy to win and to not get hurt or hurt anyone else. When the game is over, every person must shake hands with an opponent. And, you have to do this five times in one day, and make it fun.
Many dedicated and skilled physical education teachers do this and so much more, so very much more, day after day, week after week, year after year. They deserve our appreciation, respect and support.
