There is acommon misunderstanding that government should be run more like a business. A little thinking reveals that these two operations have different goals and methods.
For example, a business must generate a profit to survive, but profit is not the purpose of government. A business must compete with others to outperform them, but an important function of government is to bring competing interests together in cooperation through compromise.
Caren Ray has demonstrated an understanding of these differences and an ability to perform the functions of 4th District supervisor as the incumbent. Her opponent has business background in Santa Barbara County, but little government experience.
Caren Ray is the better choice for your vote for county supervisor on Nov. 4.
