County Supervisor Caren Ray lives true to her motto, “To Protect South County.” Her support and vote for a county contribution to the funding of the Pismo Preserve assures the preservation of this 900-acre open space. This coastal jewel will open 10 miles of trails for free use by the public. No additional taxes are required to fund the purchase of this Land Conservancy preserve , just the prudent application of the Park Lands Fund already in place.
Many groups, governments and individuals facilitated this endeavor. Sadly lacking was Lynn Compton’s endorsement. She wrote no letters to the editor and no support letters to the county Board of Supervisors; she never appeared before SLOCOG or the Board of Supervisors urging approval. I would have thought that a supervisory candidate would have been eager to support a project benefiting the entire county.
