I am heartbroken over the undocumented allegations, vitriolic comments and lampooning cartoons about the city of Arroyo Grande’s city manager and community development director. Before retiring, I worked closely with Steve Adams and Teresa McClish. They are both very nice, outstanding, conscientious, family- and community-oriented people, who work very long hours to serve the city of Arroyo Grande.
In addition to his usual six-day workweek, Adams has put in extra, nonwork time as chairman (twice) of the Harvest Festival Committee, in projects with Arroyo Grande In Bloom, with the city’s Centennial Celebration Committee (he made the centennial fireworks possible), as president of the Rotary Club, coaching youth basketball and being very active with his church. McClish is a very dedicated, education-oriented mother, whose children have been active in music, sailing and cross-country.
I know it is easy to think the worst of people; I have done it myself. But, this is personal. Careers and family are involved. Don’t be negatively influenced by gadflies, a despicable online paper and a misguided police union. Please believe me when I tell you that the citizens of Arroyo Grande do not want to lose these two outstanding people.
