I read with disappointment The Tribune’s tossing of a brickbat at Paul Phillips when he announced his write-in candidacy for district attorney. The Tribune criticized Phillips for the late timing of his announcement.
I suspect, like most voters in our county, Phillips may have been spurred to action by the obscene amount of money raised and donated to the candidates ($150,000-plus) as well as the venomous nature of the campaign. The attack by each candidate of his opponent’s integrity may call into question each man’s ability to lead an office that can not exist without unquestionable honesty.
The Tribune may have been premature in its endorsement and may have earned its very own brickbat by its actions.
