I was a criminal defense attorney in this community for almost 30 years. Many friends have asked me what I thought about Saturday’s front page story about donations from a defense attorney to Dan Dow. I tell them it is “much to-do about nothing.”
I know a lot about legal conflicts of interest and I am surprised The Tribune wasted so much ink about a non-issue. The key here is that the disposition in the criminal case in question was blessed by Dan Dow’s superiors and District Attorney Gerry Shea himself. The issue was reviewed by the state Attorney General’s Office, which found no impropriety. End of story.
