As a 17-year-old senior at Atascadero High School, as well as a member of the GreenHounds Academy, I would like to shed more light on the man-made water shortage we are facing here in SLO County, as well as other areas of California.
Despite the drought we are facing, the water shortage could have been avoidable by making more conscientious decisions when using water. Unfortunately, due to a mass amount of people overusing water for unnecessary means, we have gotten to the point where we are wishing and waiting for our government to take some action on this matter.
Meanwhile, it is extremely important that we try our best to conserve as much water as possible. Even shaving just five minutes off your daily shower, fixing leaking appliances or skipping a car wash could help the situation we are in.
My main purpose of composing this letter is to give a friendly reminder to all citizens located in this county, along with the rest of California, that they too can help conserve the water we are in need of if they wish to do so.
