To rebut recent minor criticism regarding the management of the Cayucos Pier, it is time to commend San Luis Obispo County Parks Deputy Director Curtis Black for both his short- and long-term plans and actions in managing this much loved and important local facility. Yes, the pier did not receive maintenance over the last decades, but it is a new management team now and they are taking action toward the better.
First, the pier survived an extraordinary storm event that damaged other facilities up and down the state. This was presciently assured by short-term stabilization efforts made in recent months.
Secondly, community and local agency synergy has put forth resources and a pending action plan to modernize the pier.
So away with government stalling and excuses, and welcome to action and efficiency.
