Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh says, “The essence of nonviolence is love. Nonviolent action, born of the awareness of suffering and nurtured by love, is the most effective way to confront adversity.”
Realization: Military retaliation only inflames those who plot terrorism. If only we as a nation would have realized this back on Sept. 11, 2001.
Today: We address the root of terrorism that stimulates terrorist action by moving from a culture of violence and nonending wars to nonviolence. To achieve this, America must prove itself by actions, through the dismantling of our nuclear weapons of mass destruction; feeding the children and refugees on the planet; funding world AIDS medications; and ending poverty, the arms trade, unjust globalization, the death penalty, Third-World debt and destruction of the environment.
Altruistic: Winning over the world with love and compassion toward everyone. We can do this.
