I would like to say a few words in regard to the water shortage in our community and throughout the state as well. It is not my intention to suggest ways to conserve water, as most know what needs to be done.
I would like to apply the law of large numbers to the situation. If we each reduce our water use by just 10 gallons a day at our current population of approximately 25,000 inhabitants, the savings would be 250,000 gallons a day or 91 million gallons a year. As we would say on the farm, “and that ain’t hay.”
Applying the same law statewide, the savings would be enormous. We can’t spend water like money.
