Shock and dread are just two of the emotions I experienced while reading the front-page article “Plans for former Dalidio property” (Friday, Feb. 14).
I would certainly hope that “early support voiced in SLO” is limited to the planning commission only and not to county residents. Coastal Community Builders appears to be another developer that wants to turn our quaint and beautiful location into another Santa Barbara — another traffic-jammed, population-heavy, polluted city.
Ernie Dalidio tried and failed to develop his property in vain because of a city vote against it. The thing that seems to have changed is more urbanites moving into this area.
Just in case nobody has noticed, we are in the middle of a three-year drought, the likes of which have not been seen since the early 1990s. Water restriction is active. Wells are going dry. Who in their right mind would approve another development that will deplete our water even more, increase pollution and stress our natural resources even further?
Never miss a local story.
Although I could not vote if this proposed project were put on the ballot... I can only hope present voters in SLO can see the ultimate downside of such a development.
