On Jan. 28 around 3:15 p.m., my wallet fell out of my pocket while on a cross-town bicycle trek. I noticed it as soon as I got home and immediately reported the loss to police.
About 4:45 p.m., a young couple rang my doorbell, handed me my wallet and declined my offer of a reward. My driver’s license and some cash were gone, but all my credit cards, etc., were there.
The next morning at about 9 a.m., my doorbell rang again. It was a former Cal Poly student delivering my driver’s license.
Now that speaks volumes about our community and why I’m so grateful to be part of it. Many thanks to all concerned.
Never miss a local story.
A word of caution, however. I was advised by the SLO Police Department to notify one of the credit agencies and place holds on my cards. I did that and was given an incident number. However, I discovered yesterday when I called each of the credit card companies to reactivate the cards that no hold had been placed on any of them.
