Enjoyed Matt Fountain’s front-page description of this year’s Constitutional Rights Foundation Mock Trial case, “The People vs. Concha,” (Feb. 3). It is a wonderful recap. What the article did not say, however, is that the very same case will be tried in the very same place this week by four local middle schools and junior highs. The competition is just as fierce, and the students just as well prepared as the local high schoolers.
The four schools are Old Mission School, Paulding Middle School, Judkins Middle School and Laguna Middle School. Their competitions started Tuesday, with the preliminary rounds taking place through Thursday in a round-robin, with the top two scorers going on to a final competition a week from Thursday. These students are all winners no matter who ends up as county champion.
