As a highly secular young person I enjoyed reading David Brooks’ commentary on experiencing faith in the Jan. 30 issue. It is rare that religion is talked about in terms of how it is experienced, rather than how it is practiced, and I enjoyed the insight into what draws people to religion.
I particularly enjoyed the focus on faith becoming “an heirloom” rather than something that people should discover for themselves. I can identify with feelings of amazement with life, spiritual or not. Nice to see faith represented as something to be experienced, not as an intangible entity.
