The folks of the Republican/Tea Party and its Fox News mouthpiece have been throwing around the term “train wreck” a lot lately. They seem excited to mouth those words as often as they can. They are, of course, referring to the Affordable Care Act and its “rocky” roll out.
Now, I wonder if they don’t know that the rest of the country is busy watching the real-life serious train wreck that is their own political party! I’m putting my money on the ACA. I’m guessing by the time November 2014 comes around, the sign-up surge and software deficiencies will largely be history and millions of formerly uninsured folks will have their new health coverage.
And the Republican Party? It is my belief that if the “mainstream” Republicans cannot find a way to muzzle the crazies who are running their party, they are likely to hit the midterm election going flat-out and sideways.
Can the party even survive, and will it ever be relevant again?
