A few things trouble me regarding the recent Tribune item “Paso Robles to review housing project,” Sept. 23.
Why is this even being considered given the state of basin overdraft? Why hasn’t the city, like the county, made some effort to limit or curtail development in the heavily overdrawn area depicted in the newest map? If the potential water use for this development has been taken into account in the city’s long-range planning, when was the plan approved?
Certainly, if rural residents cannot build a home on their property because of the critical water issue, developers in nearby Paso Robles shouldn’t have carte blanche to do so.
