The Postal Service wants to raise rates — again. But I think I may have discovered one reason it can’t make ends meet.
I recently received a letter from a political organization with one 3-cent stamp and two 1-cent stamps. Five cents to mail a letter, asking my political opinion, when I have to pay 46 cents to send a letter. I wonder how much of the 46 cents I pay goes to “help” such organizations send junk mail. Perhaps if the Postal Service were permitted to charge actual rates for junk mail, magazines, newspapers and other such items, ordinary citizens could see a 5-cent first-class rate too.
Typical of Washington to charge citizens to spread the wealth among politicians.
