Our county is faced with several environmental crises. Where is our fifth supervisor?
We have two supervisors who are in denial in the North County, and I don’t have the energy to follow everything that’s happening in the South County (I do know that Pismo Beach is incomprehensibly considering this Spanish Springs development).
As far as I can understand, the Board of Supervisors are the de facto stewards of our beautiful countryside and the resources it possesses.
Where is the stewardship? Where is the leadership? We have known for at least 15 years that the Paso Robles groundwater basin was in jeopardy. Why has so much thirsty development been allowed? Do tourism and county revenues trump all? We need a bulwark against environmental degradation, and I thought it was our Board of Supervisors.
Gov. Jerry Brown, please get on with it and find us the person we need to establish a proactive board, rather than the overly political, reactive one we currently seem to have.
