You can’t throw a rock around the San Luis Obispo city elite without hitting someone who will tell you how important it is to support local businesses.
Why, don’t you know, we need to patronize local folk, so that those businesses thrive and we all benefit from a robust San Luis Obispo economy.
So, when the City Council has a chance to support a local business, what do you suppose they do? Why, they patronize a transnational corporation, that’s what they do.
Specifically, the city just extended its contract for three years (making the current pact 10 years long) with that quaint “local” bank, Bank of America.
Never miss a local story.
I guess Citibank and Wells Fargo were busy.
So, the next time you hear a Chamber of Commerce or City Council spokesperson emphasize how important it is for you to shop local, let that person know that you do not appreciate blatant hypocrisy.
