I am a resident of San Luis Obispo, living near the Los Osos Valley Road-Madonna Road intersection.
One day last week, I sat in traffic on LOVR waiting to cross the bridge eastbound over Highway 101 for at least three light cycles. Traffic was backed up, it seemed, to Home Depot. I wish I could say this was a rare occurrence, but it’s just not.
If the Dalidio development is to happen as has been outlined in The Tribune (still a relatively broad sketch), then I have serious doubts that simply adding a Prado Road overpass will be nearly enough to allay the traffic that is already an issue on LOVR. How would Madonna Road, and especially LOVR, not be severely impacted given the current plan?
Including on/off-ramps for both directions of Highway 101 and making the LOVR overpass wider should be examined more closely, and should be a topic explored in future stories. If we are going to continue to grow, we have to have the infrastructure to support the growth.
