The Tribune pointed out that yet another opportunity has closed to adults for continuous learning: the Lucia Mar fee-based courses offered though its adult education program.
This follows the demise of the Osher Lifelong Learning program at Cal Poly and the suspension of the Emeritus Program at Cuesta College. The good news is that there is arelatively new nonprofit organization in our area that offers courses of all kinds for adults and doesn’t depend on receiving money from the state to operate: The Lifelong Learners of the Central Coast. The costs for membership and courses are low because it is an all-volunteer organization, including our instructors.
LLCC can be found at http://www.lifelearnerscc.org . We invite to instruct for us all former Lucia Mar instructors and anyone else who has stories to tell and ideas to teach, and who is willing to do it just for the love of teaching. Everyone is welcome to come and learn, too.
