The electorate of this nation must decide, sooner rather than later, whether it wants to elect politicians who are interested in the commonwealth of the nation.
As of today, thanks to both clever campaigns of deception and lack of political engagement by large groups of potential voters, too many politicians interested in the commonwealth of the few are being elected at the expense of the rest of the nation. Some industrialized nations are watching what happens in this country and laughing at us.
In some states of the Union, we are moving toward practical theocracy. Mullahs have been elected to implement legislation that belongs in the Middle Ages.
If this nation is to have a vibrant democracy, the electorate must become more and more politically engaged and vote for politicians who operate with a conscience, not a purse.
I am an optimist.
