For years developers and Pismo Beach city staff have been actively promoting large development in Price Canyon north of the existing city limits. Numerous benefits to the city have been expertly presented by a well- funded campaign.
Having been raised south of here, I have seen firsthand how this plays out. Rural area, development with great promises, then waking up one morning and realizing that you don’t want to live here anymore. So the question is, at what cost? Is it really worth it when what it costs destroys the very thing that you came here for in the first place? Very few city residents support this growth and many are not even aware of it.
Since the Spanish Springs project alone will increase the size of the city by 43 percent, it seems logical that the city would let the residents themselves vote to determine the quality of life they will enjoy 25 to 30 years from now.
The council vote for Spanish Springs is scheduled for tonight at the Vet’s Hall in Pismo Beach. We encourage you to be there and let your future vision of Pismo Beach be known.
