I agree with The Tribune’s endorsement of Carlyn Christianson for SLO City Council. With the vote-by-mail election ending very soon (Tuesday, June 18), it is important for folks to get out the vote in support of Carlyn.
Some writers to The Tribune seem to want to make this City Council race seem like a battle of political positions. I see it more as a contest in which there is one clear standout who has the pertinent experience in city and regional planning, and who is more of a moderate in the political spectrum. That person is Carlyn Christianson.
Ms. Christianson has the important experience with the planning commissions of both the county and the city. She has a long history of involvement in planning issues in both those jurisdictions. Carlyn is a member of the city of SLO Land Use and Circulation Element (LUCE) Update Task Force, a multiyear effort that will shape the city’s next 25 years.
I have found Ms. Christianson to be a moderate who considers both sides of the issues, rather than a predictable and inflexible ideologue as Mr. Brown so often seems to be. I’ll be glad to support Carlyn Christianson for City Council.
