I sympathize with the letter writer who said she doesn’t “understand the ruckus” surrounding the special election for the San Luis Obispo City Council. It’s got her so confused, she’s voting for Paul Brown.
Yes, it is confusing when councilman Dan Carpenter, a one-man ruckus-generator, attacks Carlyn Christianson for serving on an advisory committee while running for City Council — exactly as Dan Carpenter did. And it’s confusing that he accuses councilmembers who support Christianson of wanting a “three-vote bloc” on the council so they can push an “agenda,” — and meanwhile Carpenter and Kathy Smith support self-described “right-wing” candidate Brown because, um, they just want “balance” and “diversity” on the council. The three-vote bloc they would thus achieve so they can push their agenda? Brown is now endorsed by Kevin Rice, who once earned the sobriquet “McCarthy-esque” from The Tribune. The best way to end the ruckus — and the hypocrisy — is to vote for Carlyn Christianson.
