Whale Rock Reservoir is a water-supply lake that is very beautiful. It provides water for Cal Poly, Cuesta, California Mens Colony, Camp San Luis and the City of San Luis Obispo. As beautiful as it is, it’s also somewhat barren.
We have been planting trees there for 15 years, and we plan to plant another couple of hundred small trees from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. We sure could use the help of young and old alike.
Wear sturdy shoes and work clothes and bring a shovel. Travel north on Highway 1, past Morro Bay. At the south end of Cayucos is a stoplight on Highway 1 at Old Creek Road. Go inland about a mile on this road, and you’ll see a place to park your car by a chain link fence and gate.
Once we see how many people show up, we’ll order pizza to be served at 1 p.m.
Come out and see how big the trees are that we’ve already planted, and do your part to enhance this lovely water source.
