Apparently the writer of the Jan. 19 letter “Guns won’t save you” wasn’t around in 1994, when the genocide in Rwanda occurred.
You know, the one when President Bill Clinton was in office? (Who did nothing about it, by the way.) To disprove his quote of the day, there were hundreds of men, women and children who were clubbed and macheted to death in their churches — all part of ethnic cleansing by army types who chose to save bullets.
My thinking is that a machete is a knife — a big, long, sharp one. Too bad nobody had a gun in one of those churches. The Second Amendment gives U.S. citizens the right to protect themselves in the event their livelihood is threatened.
