Proposition 30 will not solve the problems associated with public education, and is more like treating a cold with a Band-Aid. It just doesn’t make sense. The last thing that public education needs is more of our paycheck. The teachers unions will try to make you think that all the poor children need is a few more tax dollars from you to be able to catch up and be properly educated, but what has really been done with the hundreds of millions the school systems already gets?
Though there are “cuts,” more and more gets spent every year. Spent on what, exactly? Just try to get a straight answer to that. It has been proven time and again that charter schools produce better students at a lower cost. Why can’t public schools do that? Maybe someone should go ahead and try to copy what they’re doing, it seems to be working. Obviously the ridiculous bureaucracy involved is ultimately to blame. Maybe the focus should be on truly fixing the real problems with public education instead of blindly throwing money into a black hole. Our children deserve better than Proposition 30.
