The Tribune’s endorsement of Barbara George for Cuesta College trustee hit the mark.
Dr. George has extensive knowledge about how the community college system works, how it is funded and the challenges facing the entire system. She was an integral part of building Cuesta into the crown jewel of the California Community College system. She served on several accreditation committees that received high marks for our school, and she served on teams accrediting other colleges. During her tenure at Cuesta College, she established the College Foundation, built and managed nearly $18 million, providing funding for Cuesta’s programs, services, students and faculty. She collaborated to raise the funds to buy land and establish a campus in the North County that serves thousands.
As a former trustee, I was able to observe her leadership skills firsthand. I found her to be an independent thinker who was quite successful in collaborative problem-solving. She will be prepared, informed, accessible and accountable. She will hit the ground running and provide direction at this critical juncture for our college.
Please join me in voting for Barbara George for Cuesta College Board of Trustees.
