Make a difference
I, along with two friends, attended the May 2 meeting in San Luis Obispo regarding our county’s homeless situation. It was disheartening to learn there are currently no programs or shelters for our friends here on the North Coast. No programs in place to assist the homeless in Los Osos, Morro Bay, Cayucos or Cambria.
There are five of us who provide a hot meal along with a fresh salad, dessert and coffee every Tuesday to homeless folks in Morro Bay. Congregants from Rock Harbor Church in Morro Bay provide a meal every Friday evening. Members of The Quota Club of the Central Coast provide dinners on the last Monday of each month.
This means that out of a possible 31 dinners per month, only nine or 10 are being provided, and those are by volunteers. We need help!
I am writing to ask any faith-based, fraternal or philanthropic organization or individual(s) who might be interested in assisting to please call me. We will be happy to introduce you to our friends and to mentor your volunteering to provide whatever meal(s) you are able to give.
We have been privileged to get to know these folks as individuals and to be trusted with their histories.
If you want to make a difference for our homeless population, please feel free to contact me at 995-1198 or cloganre @gmail.com !

Scuttle this study
The pro/con (Opinion, April 18) about the Diablo Canyon seismic probe of 500 miles of our coastline makes me ill. Eightytwo days of continuous 30-second blasts nonstop through our recovery species areas and marine protected zone, likely harming all ocean life for up to three years, is not acceptable.
Why do it? To know if an aging nuclear reactor and waste storage ponds are unsafe to relicense? Numerous millions of consumer dollars to gather more seismic data? Details about the clear, existing danger?
Heck, we already know that we’re on recently discovered new major fault lines.
PG&E, please invest my seismic study money into installation of wind and solar technology at the Diablo plant. Phase out and decommission the aging Diablo nuclear power plant infrastructure. Stop trying to save a rusty tin can.
Destroying most sea life for 500 miles just isn’t justified. Decommissioning an aging plant constructed on earthquake fault lines is.
Hey folks, please speak up. This is insane and unacceptable.
Brickbats for cities
My brickbats go to the city of San Luis Obispo for giving the city attorney a 3.5 percent pay raise while asking city workers to take a pay cut. Another brickbat to the city of Paso Robles for paying off the police chief with hundreds of thousands of dollars and then spending another $14,000 looking for another police chief.
But I guess when it’s not your money, you can spend freely.
