A patch-job joke
What a joke. A city street crew was out patching Airport Road in Paso Robles, again. The money that has been spent in labor and patching material over the last 20 or so years could have repaved the whole road.
I am so embarrassed. I must be the last one in the county to send The Tribune a letter to the editor about the dog, Annie. What was I thinking?
I got distracted by the flood in Pakistan that swept thousands of humans to their death, where millions more are stranded without drinking water or food and children are painfully dying of diarrhea. Sorry.
Now, about the dog. Someone lost Annie and someone else found her …
Cats deserve chance
Since November 2006, Befriended Felines of San Luis Obispo County (a member of Rescue Alliance), has rescued and given a due chance at life to more than 900 cats that animal services labeled “unadoptable” by county shelter standards.
We have placed the vast majority of them, many on barn or ranch properties to serve as rodent control and others as family companions. All cats are spayed or neutered, tested, vaccinated and receive any other medical treatments they need prior to placement as advised by attending veterinarians.
The cats’ need for public assistance by way of rescue and spay/neuter services is dire. They do not deserve to die in a county shelter. We are in great need of financial assistance to continue helping those felines who have no one else to help them. Without monthly financial support, we are unable to help so many cats at the county shelter who undeservedly await euthanasia due to overcrowding.
Can you please help? Tax-deductible donations can be written to Rescue Alliance and mailed to Befriended Felines Rescue Alliance, c/o 2599 Ironwood Ave., Morro Bay, CA 93442.
‘… we do have polo’
After attending several Central Coast Polo Club matches and watching a friend of mine compete, it made me think! We don’t have a sewer in Los Osos, but we do have polo.
We don’t have parks, but we do have polo. We don’t have street repair, but we do have polo. We don’t have fountains or statues lining our streets, but we do have polo. We don’t have a theater, but we do have polo. We don’t have a mayor, but we do have polo.
We don’t have a community pool, but we do have polo. We don’t have community gardens, but we have polo. We don’t have a leash-free dog park, but we do have polo. We don’t have pretty, tree-lined streets, but we do have polo.
We don’t have community street lighting, but we do have polo. We don’t have a step/steg system, but we do have polo. We don’t have a hospital, but we do have polo with thoroughbred horses. We don’t have a lot of other things but, God bless, we do have polo.
